New record of evictions during the second trimesterNew record of evictions during the second trimester

More than 16.000 proceedings

These are 21, 2% more than during the same period the previous year, according to data from the General Council of Judicial Power.

The eviction proceedings presented at the Spanish courts reached a new maximum history during the second trimester of the year by reaching 16.464 orders, a 21, 2% more than during the same period of the year previous, according to the details of the General Council of Judicial Power (CGPJ) publicised today.

These processes – that on many occasions are applied for by the financial entities after carrying out the execution of a mortgage due to non payment of the mortgage, and in other cases is due to the lack of payment for rentals – this is the second consecutive trimester record registered.
Between January and March, the Spanish courts had already obtained 15.546 applications for eviction, 36, 8% more than during the first three months of 2010, which makes experts predict that these cases will reach historic levels once again this year.

In fact, during the first semester of the year, there has been nearly as many proceedings registered than during the whole of 2009 (at this time 33.918 petitions of eviction), which were raised to the record of 47.809 in the year 2010.
